The amendments establish the Confederation Bridge
Compulsory Pilotage Area of Prince Edward Island, add the
Confederation Bridge to the list
of compulsory pilotage areas of Prince Edward Island, and
set compulsory tariffs.
The area was established under proposed regulations
prepublished in the Canada Gazette March 22, 1997 and
after an investigation by Captain Robert Milne of Halifax
which started April 28, 1997.The compulsory tariff charge
proposed is a "flat-charge" and would be approximately
the same rate as the current non-compulsory rate.
Annual gross revenues are estimated to be $60,000,
resulting in net revenue of some $4,000.
The regulations come into effect September 24, 1997.
