This photo was taken at the Arizona- Sonora Desert Museum. This female ferruginous hawk has just completed a flying demonstration as part of the museum's raptor free flight program. She has brow feathers that shade her eyes from the sun and enhance her ability to hunt in bright light. However, her eyes and the light have to be in the right position in order for the camera to pick up any detail in her eyes.
